2023 GMC Canyon Rumored: Speculation And Overview

2023 GMC Canyon Rumored

2023 GMC Canyon – On Friday, the GMC Canyon has been rumored to be on sale in America by 2023. The report suggests that GM would release a “fully refreshed” Canyon with a new nameplate and less cost. An article from Automotive News points out that the new truck is worth waiting for. Reports have surfaced online claiming that the next generation of the GMC Canyon will start production by 2023. It’s not a secret anymore that the current generation of the GMC Canyon will be discontinued by 2022. The reports suggest replacing it with a new model in 2023, which would probably keep the same name and look similar to the current model.

We expect the 2023 GMC Canyon to receive a complete overhaul (redesign and reengineering), introducing the third generation of the Canyon nameplate. The new Canyon will take advantage of the latest GMC truck architecture, underpinning today’s versions of the Yukon Denali, Sierra Denali, and Acadia Denali. The first generation of the Canyon, introduced in 2005, was based on the Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. The second generation of the Canyon, raised in 2010, was based on the Chevy Colorado midsize pickup truck.

Exterior Design

The new GMC Canyon is rumored to have just been revealed. It will feature a tight fascia with placeholder lighting that includes an LED signature strip at the top and two forward-facing lights below. This setup is reminiscent of some of the other GMC prototypes. The prototype features black plastic on the hood and lightboxes installed to cover up the new grille and headlights, as well as aero parts that are still clearly visible. This means that the headlights will feature an angular design rather than the traditional stacked lights.

Under the camo, we also see a wide grille with a horizontal style bar running down the middle. Moving down, we see plenty of ground clearance, with the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X looking to offer a taller stance. The truck is also pictured in two different shades of camo, which could indicate that GMC has multiple iterations of the design. Overall, the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X looks like it will be a fantastic option for those looking for an off-road capable SUV or pickup truck.

GM has revealed the latest updates on the GMT 31XX platform, resulting in a more spacious cabin for the 2023 GMC Canyon. The Extended Cab or Crew Cab can comfortably seat five passengers. As an off-road enthusiast, I was able to drive the most capable midsize truck that will be available in 2023. This midsize pickup has unique capability and ruggedness.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2023 GMC Canyon is expected to debut in the coming months. The new model will reportedly offer the 2.7-liter L3B turbocharged engine that delivers a peak output in the region of around 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. This is a lot of grunt for the compact pickup truck and could also make it an exciting package, especially with the 10-speed automatic transmission included.

As we have also mentioned in the past, an updated diesel powertrain is also likely. This is a new 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel inline-six and should be available in both outputs of 180 horsepower and 240 horsepower. It will come mated to a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2023 GMC Canyon Platforms

The third-generation Canyon will use an updated version of the same GMT 31XX platform used by the second-generation model. The updated architecture will be known as 31XX-2 internally at GM. It will be shared with Chevy Colorado 2023 and later. Initially, GM planned to use a modified version of the global midsize architecture known as C1XX. The change was made due to cost savings and reliability reasons, with the revised chassis now cheaper to produce. It will also be designed to better suit the needs of the North American market.

The elimination has made further weight savings of the Viper’s carbon-fiber roof panel. “We worked long and hard to find a way to incorporate the lightweight carbon fiber roof in the new model but at the end of the day we just couldn’t make it work,” says Ralph Gilles, president, and CEO of SRT Brand.

2023 GMC Canyon Production

The 2023 GMC Canyon will continue to be assembled at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri by GM USA. It will be the only factory in the world to produce the model. GMC is expected to show off a new version of the Canyon at next year’s Detroit Auto Show.

The 2023 GMC Canyon is set to arrive in the second part of 2022. The current pickup truck starts at $26,500, and the Denali trim level is available for $45,000. General Motors will reveal more details in the coming months. 2022 GMC Canyon Specs The GMC Canyon is a midsize pickup truck that measures 184.3 inches long, 74.6 inches wide,, and 70.5 inches tall.
